India loses to Japan

Tianjin Sept. 9 . India, which had a fantastic run in group matches including a victory over defending champion South Korea, surprisingly went down to Japan 22-25, 21-25, 25-23, 21-25 in the quarterfinals of the 12th Asian men's volleyball championship here late on Monday night.

The results (quarterfinals): Group E: China bt Pakistan 25-16, 29-27, 25-17; Australia bt Kazakhstan 19-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10. Group F: South Korea bt Iran 25-15, 25-18, 37-35; Japan bt India 25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-21.
