AIYF demo against Sharon's visit

CHENNAI Sept. 9. About 150 members of the All-India Youth Federation staged a demonstration near the Collectorate here today, to protest the visit of the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, to India.

They raised slogans denouncing the Israeli Government's policy against the Palestinians and also the NDA Government's decision to accord a ``red carpet welcome'' to Mr. Sharon.

The CPI State secretary, R. Nallakannu; the national secretary, D. Raja; the AIYF national secretary, M. Veerapandian, and the State secretary, D. Lenin, were among those participated.

The Jamaat-E-Islami Hind of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry and the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam have also condemned Mr. Sharon's visit.
