England improves official Test rating

London Sept. 9. England's victory in the final npower Test against South Africa on Monday improved its rating in the ICC Test Championship table from 101 to 104.

The improvement is not enough to lift England from fourth place in the official table but it does put it only 2 points behind New Zealand in third.

The ICC Test Championship table, September 8, 2003 (read under position, team, rating): 1. Australia 129, 2. South Africa 116, 3. New Zealand 106, 4. England 104, 5. India 94, 6. Pakistan 92, 7. Sri Lanka 91, 8. West Indies 83, 9. Zimbabwe 58, 10. Bangladesh 00.

The one-day international table: 1. Australia 135, 2. South Africa 118, 3. England 107, 4. West Indies 106, 5. New Zealand 106, 6. Sri Lanka 105, 7. Pakistan 105, 8. India 104, 9. Zimbabwe 63, 10. Kenya 28, 11. Bangladesh 1. — UNI
