Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has stressed that officers responsible for victimising political workers would not be spared and the latest Government directive appears to have been issued to bring such officers to book. Another directive has asked different authorities to stop the implementation of the orders issued by the Mayawati Government last month relating to transfers and postings of officials with immediate effect. The implementation of orders regarding the allotment of plots and houses has also been stopped. A senior IAS officer, T. George Joseph, has been asked to enquire into the financial irregularities committed in land allotments in Noida and Greater Noida. Development authorities functioning in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Saharanpur have also been covered by the Government directive. These directives have unnerved the "trusted officials" of the preceding regime and many of them fear that they could be "punished" at anytime.
