Union Minister to visit Hampi

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore Sept. 11. The Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture, Bhavnaben Devrajbhai Chikalia, will visit the historical site of Hampi tomorrow to assess the financial requirement for its development as an international tourist destination. The visit of Ms. Chikalia to Hampi is in response to letters from M. Venkaiah Naidu, MP and BJP President, sometime ago, requesting her and the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Jagmohan, to take a personal interest to develop Hampi as an international tourist destination. Mr. Naidu had in his letters said that Hampi's development required a visionary approach, greater Centre-State coordination, and a deeper commitment by the Union Government along with an appropriate financial package in addition to the resources already committed. He had suggested that Ms. Chikalia to visit the spot.
