Scuffle in lock-up

New Delhi Sept. 11. Seventeen undertrial prisoners were injured in a scuffle that broke out among them over food in a city court's lock-up this morning.

The DCP (East), Nuzrat Hasan, said that some of the injured undertrials belonged to the Daboo gang of pickpockets.

The scuffle broke out shortly before they were to be produced in the Karkardooma courts.

Some of the accused objected to the food served by the officials and picked an argument with the warden of the lock-up. An accused allegedly threw dhal on an official, said a Delhi Police spokesman.
