Sir, As the great grandson of Nyapathy Subbarao Pantulu, one of the six young nationalists who started The Hindu, I am proud that the paper which started as a weekly has completed 125 years. Nyapathy Srinivas, Chennai * * * Sir, When we were agitating for a rail-cum-road bridge across the Godavari in 1963, and Finance Minister T.T. Krishnamachari was against the proposal, I went to Madras and requested G. Narasimhan, then Managing Editor, to write an editorial on the issue. The Hindu obliged. Shepherd, a well-known authority on Shakespeare and a renowned grammarian, had a three-point prescription for acquiring proficiency in English Shakespeare, Wren & Martin and The Hindu. A.N.B.
