Cancun meet

Sir, — I refer to Subramanian Swamy's "India without a clue at Cancun" ( Sept. 11 ). His fear that India will have to eat humble pie at the Cancun meet undermines India's leadership among the developing countries. Three important factors make the Indian position critical — 65 per cent of labour in India is unorganised; our capital requirement is largely met by FDI, mostly from the EU and the U.S.; and the Indian share in the world market is negligible.

Sir, — I wish the article had been published a week ago, when the Commerce Minister, Arun Jaitley, was preparing to leave for Cancun.
