Karan enters semifinals

NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. Karan Rastogi defeated the second-seeded G.D. Jones of New Zealand 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 to move into the semifinals of the grade `I' ITF junior tennis tournament in Kentucky, U.S.

The ninth-seeded Karan will meet the eighth-seeded Robert Cameron of the U.S. in the semifinals.

In doubles, R. Arunprakash and Erik Chvojka of Canada continued with their fine run, beating the third-seeded G.D. Jones of New Zealand and Divij Sharan 6-4, 6-3 for a place in the final.

Mustafa in last four: Mustafa Ghouse in combination with Oliver Freelove of Britain beat Daniel Iniesta of Spain and Mariano Pettigrosso of Argentina 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the $10,000 Futures tournament in Madrid. The third-seeded Indo-British pair will meet the top-seeded Esteban Carril and Santiago Ventura of Spain in the semifinals.

Sania bows out in doubles: Sania Mirza partnering Varvara Lepchenko of Uzbekistan lost 3-6, 3-6 to the fourth-seeded Maria Fernanda Alves of Brazil and Julie Ditty of the U.S. in the first round of the $25,000 Challenger tournament in Peachtree City, U.S.
