NEW DELHI SEPT. 12. The Union Environment Secretary, K.C. Misra, was today relieved of his charge and put on `compulsory wait' in the wake of his alleged involvement in the Taj Heritage Corridor controversy.

A late evening order was issued in this connection by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. Mr. Misra has been accused of `tampering' with the files relating to the approval of the controversial Rs. 175-crore project. The `forgery' has reportedly been confirmed by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) report presented to the Supreme Court by the CBI yesterday.
