Cong. to intensify campaign against TDP Govt.

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD Sept. 12. Several senior Congress leaders met here on Friday and decided to intensify their campaign against the "corrupt TDP regime'' in the light of the stamp paper scam. They will submit a memorandum to the Governor to seek dismissal of the Government "which has aided and abetted the anti-national activity,'' on Sunday.

P. Shiv Shankar, Renuka Chowdary, N. Bhaskara Rao, V.Hanumantha Rao, Sarojini Pulla Reddy and others met the AICC secretary, R.P.N.Singh, at a luncheon hosted by the PCC president, D. Srinivas, and apprised him on the scam.

The leaders resolved to take their campaign to the doorsteps of the people and brief them about the corruption of the TDP Government. Holding the Chief Minister, N.Chandrababu Naidu, directly responsible for encouraging the likes of C.Krishna Yadav, Mr.Srinivas later told presspersons that it is shameful that Mr.Naidu remained a silent spectator for four years.

The decision of the Government to hike registration charges three times in the last four years abetted the sale of fake stamp papers on a large scale, he said. Mr.Naidu is now seeking alibis to disown his responsibility in the scam, he said. The sullied image of the Government is in the open now and no defence would satisfy people.

Mr. Singh said it is appalling that the ruling party tried to hush up the scam all these years instead of initiating action against the culprits. The Chief Minister is answerable to the nation for allowing Krishna Yadav to carry on his anti-national activity aimed at destroying the country's economy. Instead of nipping the crime in the bud, the Chief Minister encouraged it further, he alleged.
