Andhra Pradesh-Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: SEPT. 12. U.W. Deshmukh has taken over as the Commander, Andhra Sub Area at the ASA headquarters at Bolarum on Friday. Brigadier Deshmukh is an alumni of the Officers Training Academy, Madras, and was commissioned in 1971. A graduate from the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, he was in active operation in Bangladesh and in "Operation Cactus Lily.'' He was also involved in the highly active intensive counter-insurgency operations in the Kashmir valley, "Op Rakshak'' and subsequently moved on an UN mission to Ethiopia, according to a press release.
