MUDA to distribute 40,000 sites soon

By Our Staff Correspondent

Mysore Sept. 12. The Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) would distribute 40,000 sites within the next six months, the MUDA Chairman, Sandesh Nagaraj, announced at a press conference here on Thursday. Of the 40,000 sites, nearly 22,000 would be distributed within three months and the remaining would be carved out from land to be acquired by MUDA shortly, Mr. Nagaraj said. A proposal regarding this had already been sent to the Urban Development Secretary. The Government had accepted MUDA's proposal to develop five residential areas in the city and the 40,000 sites would be distributed in these places, he said. The areas were Lalithadrinagar, Rabindranath Tagore Nagar, Shantaveri Gopalgowda Nagar, Vasanth Nagar, and Lal Bahudar Shastri Nagar.

The MUDA was planning to borrow money to develop these areas, according to Mr. Nagaraj. To deal with the shortage of drinking water in the city, MUDA was planning to supply water from the Kabini. A master plan had been submitted to the Government. It entailed the construction of a water supply station at Bidrangud around 21 km. from the city centre, the MUDA Chairman said.
