A senior police officer said the incident took place at 7.30 p.m. when the Catholicos was going to a construction spot in the area. ``It was load-shedding time then. Around 100 people, suspected to be members of the Jacobite faction, blocked him. The police were not given prior intimation of the visit,'' he said. The members were dispersed by the policemen who reached the spot. The Catholicos returned to Kottayam. A police pose is camping at Varikkoli. The situation is fully under control, he said. The District Collector had on Thursday issued `stop work' notice on a construction work going on in an Orthodox centre in the area, since prior permission had not been sought from him.
