By Our Staff Reporter KOCHI, SEPT 12: The solid waste management project that has been proposed for Kochi may soon become a reality. A private firm has been entrusted with the work of submitting a project proposal in this regard. A supplementary agenda on the proposed solid waste management plant was placed before the Kochi Corporation council today. The Corporation will go through the proposal and accept the project if it was found feasible, said the Kochi Mayor, C. M. Dinesh Mani. The proposal is to convert solid waste into bio-fertiliser. It will take around five weeks to process the fertiliser. Aerobic microbial composing will be done at the plant. There will not be any bad odour from the plant, neither will it cause pollution. The Karnataka Compost Corporation (KCC) is scheduled to implement the project, said the agenda circulated among the councillors. Under this project, solid waste will be processed in a natural way, solving to a large extent the problem of accumulated solid waste in the city. The Corporation will give land and provide facilities for water and power supply. The company would have to construct the plant.
