Minister accused of encouraging factionalism

By Our Staff Reporter

CUDDAPAH Sept. 13. Congress leaders on Saturday accused the Minister for Housing, P. Ramasubba Reddy, of promoting factionalism in the district but preaching peace.

Addressing a press conference, the ZP chairman, K. Suresh Babu, and the DCC president, Shaik Hussain, said the bid on the life of the Minister's close relative, Ramesh Reddy, in Chintakunta village in Muddanur mandal, was a fall-out of the murder of Mahadevaiah, which was a retaliation to the killing of Ramesh Reddy's father, Yella Reddy.

Refuting the Minister's charge that the CLP Leader, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and Congress' Jammalamadugu Constituency convener, C. Narayana Reddy, were behind the attack on Ramesh Reddy, they questioned the basis for the Minister's allegation. The Minister was trying to gain political mileage out of the bid on his relative's life, they alleged. They questioned the continuation of Mr. Ramasubba Reddy as Minister, despite being an accused in the Shadnagar double murder case.

They said that Mr. Narayana Reddy would be suspended from the Congress if his involvement in the attack was proved. The Minister's family had bombing and rigging culture, they alleged and asked him to recall an instance in Chittoor district, in which a woman chased away his uncle, P. Siva Reddy, a former Minister. They charged the Minister with pressuring the police not to register cases against the TDP members involved in murder cases and foisting cases on Congressmen.
