TIRUPATI. Sept. 13. There was a faux pas during the visit of the Governor, S.S. Barnala, to Tirupati-Tirumala on a three-day official visit on Saturday. The Governor was taken by mistake to the TTD's Padmavathi Guest House at Tirupati, where there was no scheduled halt. Sources attributed the confusion to the police "over-playing the security arrangements" at the airport, which eventually made the TTD Executive Officer, Ajeya Kallam, and the District Collector, G. Saiprasad, also to leave their car far away from the airport terminal and reach the airport only by walk. It is said that by the time the officials reached the tarmac, the Governor had already disembarked from the aircraft and boarded the waiting car, which took him to the Padmavathi Guest House, Tirupati, instead of the Padmavathi Guest House located on the hills. Sources said that barring the Governor's car and the lone pilot vehicle ahead, there were no other vehicles in the convoy, including the customary escort vehicle. By the time the mistake was realised, the Governor's car had already left and even reached the Tirupati guest house. It was when the Governor was about to alight from his car, wireless communication reportedly reached Governor's Security Officer who obviously explained the situation to the VVIP and changed the course of the vehicle towards Tirumala Hills. Sources further said that a couple of town service buses also were seen going behind the Governor's car, as it was on its way to the Tirupati Guest House along the unscheduled and unprotected route.
