Chidambaram re-elected

Thanjavur Sept. 13. P. Chidambaram has been unanimously elected the general secretary of the Congress Jananayaga Peravai, founded by him, for the second term at a State-level party meeting held here today.

Twentyfour party leaders and workers proposed his name and seconded it for the post. There was no nomination against Mr. Chidambaram.

The party executive committee and general council meetings were also held here today.

Addressing the meetings, Mr. Chidambaram appealed to the members to step up the membership campaign and enrol more youngsters to the party.
