Kerala-Thiruvananthapuram
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM. SEPT.13. The former Speaker of the State Assembly, M. Vijayakumar, has deplored the tendency of the police to harass the two-wheeler riders for not wearing helmets of the specifications notified by the Government. In a press release issued in his capacity as the district secretary of the CPI(M), Mr. Vijayakumar said the police constables had taken the present drive against helmet-less bike riding as a licence to use abusive language even against women. They have no right to treat bike riders as ordinary criminals for not wearing helmets, he added.
