Huge arms haul

Mumbai Sept. 13. In a major breakthrough, the Mumbai Crime Branch-CID seized a huge cache of explosives in Thane district in the early hours of today after having shot dead Nisar, the prime suspect in the August 25 twin blasts that had claimed 52 lives and injured 150 others.

Nisar, who is said to be linked to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, had plans of carrying out terrorist activity on September 11 and during the ensuing Navratri festival, the Mumbai police chief, Ranjeet Singh Sharma, said at a news conference here. — UNI
