Jaish claims responsibility

Srinagar Sept. 14. A man claiming to be Sahrai Baba, successor of the Jaish-e-Mohammad's Kashmir operations chief, Gazi Baba, today said his outfit had killed Kuka Parrey.

He told Zee News that Parrey had been killed in retaliation for the gunning down of Gazi Baba by security personnel last month.

The father of counter-insurgency and former legislator, Parrey, was killed when militants hurled grenades and opened indiscriminate fire at him in Hajan town of Baramulla district on Saturday.

Two militant outfits, Al-Nasiree and Kashmir Freedom Force, also claimed responsibility for Parrey's killing.

Officials here feel that the active counter-insurgents might contemplate withdrawing from the anti-militancy operations in the wake of sustained militant attacks against them.
