Bangalore Sept. 14 . The Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Ravishankar Prasad, has said that there is no proposal to ban FTV and Trend TV channels in the country. Speaking on the sidelines of the 35th Southern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India here on Saturday, the Minister said the promoters of the two channels should respect the sensitivities of Indian viewers. The first decade of the 21st Century had seen a revolution in entertainment and the Centre was making efforts to create infrastructure for the development of the industry. He said the Union Government had entered into an agreement with the Italian Government for collaboration in cinema development and distribution. He said there was also a plan to sign MoUs with Britain, France, and Canada in the field. He said foreign film-makers had been allowed to shoot films in the country. Treating film-making as an industry, the IDBI and other commercial banks had given loans to the tune of crores of rupees, he said and added that there was great demand for Indian films abroad.
