'Unhelpful to peace'

By P. S. Suryanarayana

SINGAPORE Sept. 15. Even as China's Foreign Minister, Li Zhaoxing, held a telephonic conversation with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Amr Mahmoud Moussa, on the Israel-Palestine conflict and the latest situation in U.S.-occupied Iraq, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Kong Quan, underlined that "Chairman Arafat is the legitimate leader elected by the Palestinian people.''
