Naxalite killed in encounter

By Our Staff Reporter

NIZAMABAD SEPT. 15. A suspected CPI-ML (Janashakti) naxalite believed to be a District Committee member was allegedly killed in an exchange of fire with the special police party near Malkapur village under Domakonda police station limits on Monday.

According to the Kamareddy DSP, Parimala Hana J. Nutan, special police party personnel were on a visit to Domakonda mandal to gather information. While returning to the headquarters, the police personnel saw two persons near a tree and stopped there to question them. The duo on seeing the police tried to escape and one of them opened fire from an automatic short weapon he was carrying.

The police parties chased the duo and then returned the fire. An unidentified naxal was killed in the encounter. The other managed to escape.

The victim was carrying US made Colt pistol and is believed to be a DCM cadre leader. Ms. Parimala, said that enquiries revealed that the slain naxal did not belong to Nizamabad and in all probability hailed from neighbouring Karimnagar or Medak district.
