Lawyer arrested on charge of stealing credit card

HYDERABAD Sep. 15. An advocate who stole a credit card of a customer of Vijaya Bank and made purchases and cash withdrawals to the tune of Rs. 22,159, was arrested by the Narayanguda Police on Monday.

Police said the advocate, Srinivas Rampally, 34, resident of Phoolbagh in Domalguda area, had stolen the card which was sanctioned for one Jamaal, a resident of Zerabagh in Asifnagar area, from the bank premises. Srinivas was a SB account holder in the same branch. He misused the credit card by signing Jamaal's signature and purchased gold costing Rs. 20,000 besides petrol from a filling station. He also took cash from two filling stations using the card.

Jamaal lodged a complaint with the police on September 12 stating that he had received the monthly credit card statement from the bank with the due amount put at Rs. 22,159 whereas he was yet to receive the credit card itself!

Youth held

The West Zone Task Force team arrested a 20-year old youth for selling swards and daggers in Bazarghat area and seven others who had made purchases from him in different places in the city. Based on his confession, the Task Force team raided different places in the city and arrested Md. Ghouse and Akeel, both 20 and residents of Gudimalkapur, Md. Azeem Khan, 20, and resident of Kulsumpura, Md. Siraj, an old clothes seller from Kishanbagh, Preetham, a 15-year old fruit seller of Parthiwada, Santosh, a tea supplier in Meeralam Mandi, and Syed Azam, 23, a resident of Shahgunj, and seized six swards and four daggers from their possession.

VCD shop-owner held

A VCD shop-owner and a customer were arrested by the Balanagar police on Monday and several porno CDs seized from their possession. Police raided Sohail VCD shop located at Gowthamnagar under Balanagar police station limits and found the owner Imran Khan, 19, in possession of English, Hindi and Telugu porno CDs. While the raid was being conducted, an unsuspecting customer L. Balakrishna, 31, resident of Langar Houz, who walked into the shop to return four porno CDs was also arrested.
