CM invites Israeli investors to set up agro-processing units

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD Sept. 16. The Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, invited investors in Israel to set up agro-processing industries in Andhra Pradesh and offered all facilities from the Government such as early clearances and appointment of escort officers for each of them.

Speaking to a group of leading industrialists over dinner near Tel Aviv on Monday night, he said he would write into all of them inviting them to visit Andhra Pradesh to get first hand information about the progress made by the State.

Mr. Naidu made a detailed power presentation and spoke for 85 minutes on the strengths of India and Andhra Pradesh. He said the State had abundant natural and human resources and farmers would benefit greatly if appropriate technologies were offered to them.

The participants in the meeting included chief executives of Tnuva Food Co., Sun Frost Fresh Frozen Vegetables, International Diamond Co., Netafin International, Plastro International, Heavy Industries Organisation and Solar Energy.

Earlier, on reaching Tel Aviv from Italy, Mr. Naidu had a hectic schedule. He had two meetings, one with the Tahal Group on water management projects and the other with Israel Export Institutes, Information Technology and Telecommunication Committee. The latter made a presentation on IT solutions in the areas of capitalisation of intellectual property rights, health care, agriculture and offered to extend consultancy in these fields to reduce the cost of service.

The Tahal Group accepted the suggestion of the Chief Minister to work jointly with the State Government. Mr. Naidu constituted a six-member joint committee under the Chairmanship of the Finance Minister, Y. Ramakrishnudu, to work out the modalities of the joint venture.
