5 killed in gun-battle

Guwahati Sept. 16. Five persons, including two Army personnel, were killed in an exchange of fire between the security forces and ULFA militants in Tinsukia district of Assam, official sources said here today.

An ambush had been laid at Mogong Pathar in the district by the Army men on Sunday night, acting on information that ULFA militants were expected there, they said, adding that on spotting the personnel, militants opened fire and killed two jawans. The security forces retaliated and killed one militant. In the gun-battle, two civilians, including a woman, were also killed.
