LUCKNOW SEPT. 16 The lone Samata Party member in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Rajaram Pandey, today joined the Samajwadi Party, ending the existence of the NDA constituent in the House.

The strength of the SP has gone up to 186 in the Vidhan Sabha. Earlier, 40 members of the BSP and some other MLAs had joined the SP after it came to power on August 29.

Mr Pandey, announcing his decision in the State Assembly, said he had given a formal letter in this regard to Speaker Keshri Nath Tripathi. --UNI
