S.S. Handa asked Mr. Khurana to file a reply to the suit by October 20. In the suit filed on September 9, the Chief Minister had charged Mr. Khurana with levelling false and defamatory corruption charges against her and her Government. Ms. Dikshit has sought a token compensation of Rs. 101 as well as a permanent prohibitory injunction restraining Mr. Khurana from levelling any allegation or imputation of corruption including allegations that he had made against her on September 3. At a Press conference here on September 3, Mr. Khurana had alleged that the Sheila Dikshit Government had conspired to provide grants of hundreds of crores of rupees to private power distribution companies (discoms), the suit said. He had also accused Ms. Dikshit of receiving Rs. 15 crores from these companies in lieu of releasing Rs. 105 crores to them under the Accelerated Power Development and Reform Programme (ARDRP), the suit stated. Following the corruption charges, Ms. Dikshit had served a legal notice to Mr. Khurana on September 4 asking him to tender an apology but Mr. Khurana instead of apologising to the plaintiff called another Press conference and reiterated his allegations against the Chief Minister, the suit said.
