One-way rule: Protesters block road

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE Sept. 16. Hundreds of residents and traders blocked New Thippasandra Main Road in Jeevan Bhima Nagar Police Station limits on Tuesday morning, in protest against the introduction of one-way system there.

Demanding the withdrawal of the system, the traders contended that it affected business and hampered parking of vehicles on the roadside. Several shops downed their shutters in protest.

Senior police officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), M.A. Saleem, and the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Krishnamurthy, rushed to the spot to pacify the crowd.

The officials assured the demonstrators that the matter would be brought to the notice of higher authorities. The protestors then dispersed peacefully.
