A farmer reportedly committed suicide by consuming poison in Hassan district. Channarayapatna police identified him as Bhoje Gowda (70) of A. Kallenahalli village in Dandiganahalli hobli, Channarayapatna taluk. Police said that according to a complaint, Bhoje Gowda, who owned 0.20 acre of land, had borrowed Rs. 7,000 from a nationalised bank. Our Davangere Staff Correspondent reports: A farmer committed suicide at Hunesekatte village in Davangere taluk reportedly because he could not clear his debts following crop failure in the past three years. The farmer, Basappa, is said to have consumed poison on Wednesday night. He died in a hospital today. Our Bijapur Correspondent writes:
Somappa Mahadevappa Madar, a farmer, reportedly committed suicide today by consuming poison at Jangapur in Babheshwar police stations limits.
Woman's death reported
Our Tumkur Staff Correspondent reports:
The "unnatural death'' of Hanumamma (55) in Hosapur in Amruthur police station limits in Kunigal taluk of Tumkur district has been reported.
Her husband, Devaiah, lodged a complaint with police on Tuesday, and said that she hanged herself to death earlier that day. Amruthur police said on Wednesday that a case of "unnatural death'' had been registered.
Mr. Devaiah, who is a farmer, said his wife was in distress after the Land Development Bank branch rejected his loan application
