Sun TV reporter dies in accident

By Our Special Correspondent

VILLUPURAM Sept. 18. A Sun TV reporter, Thirumal Alagan (36), stationed at Kallakurichi near here, died in a road accident on Wednesday night. It is learnt that the reporter had gone to Vadakarai Thalanur near Thirukkovilur on an assignment.

On his return, he got a lift in his friend's car. At the Ulundurpet railway gate, the car rammed into a stationary truck laden with iron bars. The mishap occurred when the car driver swerved the vehicle to the left to avoid collision with another vehicle coming in the opposite direction.

In the process, the iron bars pierced through the windshield and penetrated the forehead of the reporter. The other two occupants of the car, including the driver, sustained minor injuries. The reporter was immediately rushed to the Ulundurpet government hospital and later shifted to the Pondicherry government hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
