KOLKATA. SEPT.18. The Oberoi group is planning to extend its hospitality beyond hotels and resorts. The group has acquired a vessel to offer luxury cruise on the backwaters of Kerala. It also sticks to its long cherished plan to own a luxury train service on the lines of `Palace on Wheels'. The group is still pursuing its dream to run a worldclass luxury train service. "I think, sooner or later we will have our own train,'' P. R. S. Oberoi, Chairman, EIH, said here today. Talking to newspersons after the annual meeting of the company, Mr. Oberoi hinted that there was scope to offer much better product and services than the `Palace on Wheels.' Meanwhile, EIH has rebranded its `Vilas' properties as The Oberoi Rajvilas, The Oberoi Amarvilas and so on. The Cecil, Shimla, will also be rebranded as the Oberoi Cecil. As per the latest marketing arrangement with Hilton International of the U.S., the lesser known Trident hotels (and The Oberoi Towers, Mumbai) of the group will be rebranded as Hilton hotels.
