EMUs on Tambaram-Vandalur section cancelled

CHENNAI Sept. 18. Owing to some engineering work to be taken up in Tambaram-Vandalur section in the coming weekend, the following metre gauge EMU trains will be cancelled: September 20: train no. CT 28 leaving Chengalpattu at 22-45 hours; train no. TC 27 leaving Tambaram at 23-35 hours.

September 21: train no. TC 1 leaving Tambaram at 03-30 hours; train no. TC 3 leaving Tambaram at 4-45 hours; train no. CT 2 leaving Chengalpattu at 03-50 a.m; train leaving Chengalpattu at 05-50 hours.

A Southern Railway release said due to line block in connection with engineering work in Vyasarpadi-Villivakkam section on September 19/20, the train no. BA 1 Chennai Beach-Arakkonam local leaving beach at 01-20 hours will be diverted on the fast line between Vyasarpadi and Thiruninravur. It would not stop at Vyasarpadi Jeeva, Korattur, Pattaravakkam, Tirumullaivoil, Annanur, Hindu College and Pattabiram.

Ticket checking drive

In a ticket checking drive conducted in the Chennai Central-Arakkonam section on Wednesday and Thursday, 1,525 cases of ticketless travelling, irregular travelling and travelling with un-booked luggage were detected. A railway press release said a fine amount of Rs.1.08 lakhs was collected in the drive carried out under the supervision of the Divisional Commercial Manager. The checking team included 91 staff and 30 RPF personnel.
