Addressing a press conference at Barkas, Mr. Idroos claimed that his son was innocent and was not connected to the Mumbai blasts. "Let alone involvement in the blasts, not even a fine for traffic rule violation has been imposed on my son," he said. Two residents of Barkas had flown to Mumbai to bring the body of Hasan which is expected to arrive here on Friday morning. The body has been preserved at J.J. Hospital of Shivaji Park police station limits in Mumbai. According to him, his son-in-law, Syed Mohsin, called up from Mumbai to send his wife, Hashmi (Mr. Idroos' daughter), to Mumbai to apply for a visa. Hasan, along with Hashmi, left for Mumbai on September 4. They checked into a lodge there. However, the visa work could not be completed. On September 12, their close relative, Nasir (the alleged kingpin in the blasts and who was also killed), said he would help them out in procuring the visa. "My son was not to be seen since then. Hashmi called up our relatives in Mumbai and enquired about Hasan," Mr. Idroos maintained. The next day, their relatives sent Hashmi to the city by a bus. "On September 14 evening, a relative, Jehna of Mumbai, called up saying the other person killed along with Nazir by the police has been identified as Hasan," he said. Mr. Idroos said he did not believe it initially. But the news was subsequently confirmed by the local police here. "Neither members of my family nor any Barkas resident know much about Nasir. But, Hasan is innocent," he observed. Questioning the claims made by the police that his son was involved in the blasts, he urged the Government to come out with the evidence, if any. Meanwhile, the Barkas Welfare Association vice-president, Ali Abdul Rehman, has lamented that the name of Barkas is being linked to the blasts without any evidence.
