Sharing this information after a function held last evening where it was announced that the 7th Conference of Global Spatial Data Infrastructure (GSDI) would be held at Bangalore from February 2 to 6, 2004, V. Sundararamaiah, Scientific Secretary at ISRO, said that INSAT-3E was to be launched on September 27, while the Resourcesat would be launched after about three weeks. Mr. Sundararamaiah said the Cabinet had approved the Moon mission. The Rs. 386-crore mission might be launched in five years. Earlier V. S. Ramamurthy, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, and Mukund Rao, President (Elect), GSDI, said India has emerged as a major player in the arena of international spatial data infrastructure development and it was in recognition of this fact that the country has been entrusted with the responsibility of hosting the meet. It would be marked by a "Spatial World Expo''.
