HC restores surrendered seats to CET Cell

By Our Staff Reporter

BANGALORE SEPT. 19. The Karnataka High Court today passed an interim order that all vacant seats in private unaided and minority professional colleges should be filled in the casual vacancy round of admissions scheduled from September 22 at the Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell.

Thus, the Government Order surrendering these seats to the private managements has been struck down. But the allotment of these seats will be subject to the final order in the case.

Passing the interim order on a batch of writ petitions on admissions in the casual round, Justice H. Rangavittalachar fixed September 30 as the last date for students selected in the casual round to report to the colleges.

Those who had already reported to various colleges by virtue of the admission round counselling at the CET Cell could participate in the casual round also.

Also, seats added recently, after the admission round by virtue of the orders of the Medical Council of India, the Dental Council of India, and the All-India Council for Technical Education, should be offered in the casual vacancy round of admission. Hearing in the case was posted to October 21.
