Sonia expresses 'curiosity'

Munshiganj (U.P.) Sept. 19. The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, today expressed her "curiosity" over the special CBI court discharging the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, in the Ayodhya demolition case while deciding to frame charges against the others.

``It is curious about how one person escaped the dragnet when the court had decided to frame charges against seven others,'' Ms. Gandhi told newsmen here this evening without taking any names. When asked to comment on the Rae Bareli court verdict, she evaded a direct reply, saying the Congress legal cell would go through the judgment and only then could anyone comment.

She blamed the BJP for manipulating the CBI in the Ayodhya case, leaving one person from the trial.

Mr. Gandhi said the Congress was closely monitoring the activities of the U.P. Government and the CBI in the Ayodhya case and would do accordingly.
