Puthige Swami for peace meet
BANGALORE
SEPT. 20.
The Swami of Puthige Math, Udupi, Sri Sugunendra Theertha, will participate as a special invitee in an international convention of political and spiritual heads in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, to find a solution to the menace of terrorism.
The five-day meet beginning on September 23 will discuss, among other issues, the increasing acts of terrorism in the Asian subcontinent.
The U.N. Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, the former South African President, Nelson Mandela, the former Soviet leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, the former United States President, Jimmy Carter, and the former British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher, are taking part.
