Mukta Arts expands distribution network

MUMBAI SEPT. 20. Media company, Mukta Arts, has set up nine branch offices for distribution, under the Mukta Movies Distributors brand name, across the country.

That apart, Mukta Arts has also acquired StarJack during 2002-03 for overseas distribution of its movies, said the company in its annual report for 2002-03. It has acquired 100 per cent equity in StarJack, a company incorporated in Isle of Man in 2002-03, for Rs. 1.56 lakhs.

The Subhash Ghai promoted media player is in the process of setting-up a training school, Whistling Woods International Institute, to train students and professionals in the art of film and television.

The institute is under construction at the Filmcity in Goregaon, a north-west suburb of Mumbai.

The company expects to launch the institute by the beginning of 2005. During 2002-03, Whistling Woods International Pvt. Ltd. (WWIPL), a subsidiary of Mukta Arts, acquired the land from Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Ltd (MFSCDC). WWIPL issued 30,000 equity shares of Rs. 1,000 each, aggregating Rs. 3 crores, as fully paid to MFSCDC for the land acquired.
