Basu surprised

KOLKATA SEPT. 20. The former West Bengal Chief Minister, Jyoti Basu, today expressed surprise over the discharge of the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, by the Rae Bareli Special Court despite his "presence" during the demolition of the Babri mosque at Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.

Mr. Advani was even summoned by the Justice Liberhan Commission "where we were also present to give our witnesses. But, why he was discharged in the case, is not known," Mr. Basu told presspersons at the CPI(M) headquarters here.
