CBI to study order discharging Advani

New Delhi Sept. 20. The Central Bureau of Investigation today said it is still to study the Rae Bareli court's ``voluminous'' order discharging the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, in the Babri Masjid demolition case and could decide on appealing against it only after studying the verdict.

``We are still to study the court's order which I have learnt is quite voluminous, hence I can't make any comment on what our stance is going to be,'' the CBI Director, P.C. Sharma, told reporters on being asked whether the agency was planning to challenge the verdict of discharge.

Denying the allegations of ``laxity'' in preparation of the chargesheet, he said, ``This is a baseless allegation. At no point of time the chargesheet was tampered with or diluted.''

Asked as to how seven persons were charged while one had been discharged given the similarity of evidence and charges, Mr. Sharma quipped that this query must be put to the court concerned.
