Elumalai seeks NOC for Karaikal port project

Pondicherry Sept. 20. The Local Administration Minister, A. Elumalai, who is also in charge of the Fisheries portfolio, today had a talk with the Union Environment Minister, T. R. Baalu, here on grant of no objection certificate for the port project at Karaikal, which would be of help for fishermen in the region.

Mr. Elumalai said as there was a statutory requirement to obtain the no objection'certificate under the Coastal Zone Regulation Act from the Centre to provide basic amenities in housing colonies in coastal pockets to benefit fishermen, Mr. Baalu was requested to concede the plea of the Pondicherry administration.
