Major political changes after by-election: Pinarayi

By Our Staff Reporter

KOCHI SEPT. 20. The State secretary of the CPI(M), Pinarayi Vijayan, has said that major political changes will take place after the Ernakulam by-election. He was talking to mediapersons at a `meet the press' here today.

Mr.Vijayan said there was a communal divide in the State as in other parts of the country. The CPI(M) was getting support from various quarters for the anti-communal stand adopted by the party, he said.

He accused the Government of `criminal negligence' regarding the Marad rehabilitation issue. The CPI(M) secretary said there was an increasing awareness about the `anti-people policies' of the State Government. A recent statement from a Bishop that the community was ready to cooperate with the communists was part of this, he said.

The party was receiving enthusiastic response from people in the Ernakulam by-election campaign, Mr.Vijayan said. He welcomed the `change in attitude' among a group of Congressmen in the State.
