Sandeep, Vikas in final

MUMBAI Sept. 20 . Sandeep Jangra made his presence felt in the All-India Little Masters junior squash tournament on Saturday, managing to come back from the brink for a rousing boys under-19 semifinal victory over second seed Anurag Gill in five games, then setting himself in line for another title by making the boys' under-17 final.

There were no surprises in the girls events of the Rs. 1,81,500 event, sponsored and organised by Willingdon Sports Club, with favourites Joshna Chinappa and Alisha Mashruwala clashing in the under-19 final.

Boys under-19: 3-Sandeep Jangra (Jindal) bt 2-Anurag Gill 3-9, 6-9, 9-3, 9-7, 9-6; 1-Vikas Jangra (Jindal) bt 3-Rushabh Vora 9-0, 9-0, 9-1.

Under-17: 1-S. Jangra (Jindal) bt 3-Sarvesh Chauhan (Jindal) 9-5, 10-8, 9-4; 3-Manek Mathur bt Rushabh Vora 9-5, 7-9, 10-9, 6-9, 9-7; u-15: 3-Cyrus Vakil bt 1-Parth Sharma (Raj) 9-5, 9-1, 7-9, 5-9, 9-4; Vikram Malhotra bt 5-Anup Sharma (Jindal) 9-3, 9-1, 9-0.

Under-13: 1-Aditya Jagtap bt 3-Aditya Gupta 9-7, 9-2, 9-2; 2-Rahul D'cunha bt R. Jamil (Shimla) 9-1, 9-3, 6-9, 9-6.

Boys under-11: 3-Tarun Nambiar bt 1-Mahesh Mangaonkar 6-9, 9-7, 8-10, 9-7, 9-3; 2-Abhishek Pradhan bt 3-Caran Arora 3-9, 9-3, 9-0, 9-7.

Girls under-19: 2-Alisha Mashruwala bt 3-Sonali Philip (Chennai) 9-3, 9-2, 9-1; 1-Joshna Chinappa (Chennai) bt 5-Shruti Reddy (Chennai) 9-5, 9-1, 9-3.
