A police press release said during a vehicular check, the lorry bearing Andhra Pradesh registration was intercepted at the junction of Manali-Amullavoyal 200 Feet Road. No documents related to the wood or the vehicle was available with the driver. The lorry owner, Saibaba of Naidupet, the driver, Venkateswaralu, and the cleaner, Sankar were arrested.
Jewels, cash stolen
In another incident, jewellery weighing about 22 sovereigns and cash totalling Rs. 10,000 were stolen from a house at Tondiarpet on Friday. According to the police, the thieves struck at the house of Pavachan residing on Appasamy Street, II Lane.
