Homage to sepoy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Sept. 20. The body of sepoy, S. K. Shibu of 42 Rashtriya Rifles (9 MECII INF), who was killed in a blast in Jammu and Kashmir, was brought here on Saturday. The body was received with full military honours at the Shankhumukhom Air Force base.

The defence personnel offered the general salute. V. S. Sivakumar, MP, laid a wreath on behalf of the Chief Minister along with Neelalohitadasan Nadar and Sakthan Nadar, MLAs.

Floral tributes were also paid on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Southern Army Command Chief, Southern Air Command Chief, Station Commander Pangode Military Centre and Air Force Station, Shankhumukhom. M. Vijayakumar, former Speaker, K. R. Muraleedharan, District Collector, and K. K. Govindan, Director, Sainik Welfare Board, were also among those who paid tributes.

Later, the body was taken with full military honours to the martyr's home at Pallichal. Shibu is survived by parents, a brother and a sister.
