Bodies recovered

Dehra Dun Sept. 21. All nine bodies of mountaineers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police team and Sherpas (porters), who had gone missing after being hit by an avalanche, have been recovered and were being brought to the Base Camp by the rescue team consisting the Indian Air Force and the ITBP.

The nine members of the expedition to Panchachuli - II in Kumaon were killed when an avalanche on their way back to the Base Camp hit them after conquering the peak of the Kumaon Himalayas. The team, which left Munsyari on August 29 last, had 50 members but ultimately only nine of them undertook the difficult expedition to the peak.

Among those killed are Tashi, Ram Negi, Yograj, Dawa Sherpa, Angchuk Dorje and S. D. Sharma. — UNI
