Letters to the Editor
Sir, I am a Ph.D. student, Wright State University. I have always wanted to serve as a scientist in India. But a look at the payscales of scientists and professors makes me wonder if I should come back. The IITs are among the top educational institutions. But students who graduate from there earn two times more than the annual income of the professors who taught them, immediately after passing out. There are many like me who want to help achieve President Abdul Kalam's vision for 2020. However, many prefer to stay back in the U.S., not only because of attractive wages but also because their work is respected and recognised.
