NDTV, Shell among 18 FDI proposals cleared

NEW DELHI SEPT. 22. The Union Finance Minister, Jaswant Singh, has approved 18 foreign direct investment (FDI) proposals including Standard Chartered Private Equity investment in NDTV and another from Shell International to set up a wholly owned subsidiary in India to manufacture and market specialty grade bitumen.

Of the total Rs. 118.93 crores investment cleared, Standard Chartered Private Equity (Mauritius) proposes to investment Rs. 52.88 crores to pick up 14.35 per cent equity in the news channel NDTV.

Another Rs. 35 crores is to come from the GMR Vasavi Group of Mauritius for restructuring of foreign equity in GMR Power Corporation.

Shell International's investment is Rs. 14 crores in Shell India Private Ltd. for the manufacture and marketing of specialty grade bitumen, including polymer modified bitumen.
